Slurry Seal

Slurry Seal is a cold mix mixture of high-quality crushed aggregate, asphalt emulsion, water and mineral fillers, blended together according to the laboratory's prescribed mix design. It is applied to existing surfaces, such as surface treatments or pavements, that are still in good condition, as a cost-effective preventive maintenance method. It reduces damage by sealing, prevents further oxidation, corrects the gravel and provides or replaces a high degree of slip resistance. The mud seal is applied by means of a spread box, which is connected to the slurry mixing unit, as shown on the right. The box has a single lane width, allowing uniform distribution of material in a single lane. The crew at the front of the unit regulates traffic control, and sweeps the surface before applying the slurry seal. Unit operators monitor mixing and application. After a short drying time, traffic will be allowed to continue using the newly rehabilitated lane.

Micro Surfacing

Micro– Surfacing is a cold mix mixture of high quality aggregate, polymer-modified emulsion, water and mineral filler blended according to a laboratory-determined mix design. It applies to existing, higher volume, heavy traffic and roads that are still in good-to-good condition, as a cost-effective preventive maintenance measure. It can reduce damage by sealing, preventing further oxidation, correcting turns and providing or replacing a high degree of slip resistance. It can also repair ruts, (up to 38mm thick) or re-profile roads. It has a life expectancy of more than seven years. It is applied to existing pavements using a special micro-box, (more comparable to a screed paver than a slurry box) connected to a micro-mixing unit, as shown on the right. The micro grid is variable width, allowing total coverage of a single lane in a single pass. The crew at the front of the unit regulates traffic control, and sweeps the road before applying the micro surface. Unit operators monitor mixing and application. After a short drying time, traffic will be allowed to continue using the newly rehabilitated lane.
