Tack Coat is an adhesive layer in the form of liquid asphalt which is placed on the asphalt layer or concrete layer. The binder layer consists of a fast absorbing emulsion asphalt or hard asphalt.
For use alone it ranges from 0.15 to 0.50 / m2 thinner than the volume of Prime coat. The main function of Tack Coat is to provide binding power between the old layer and the new layer.
Prime Coat is a bond layer of liquid asphalt that is placed on the foundation layer of class A aggregate. This binder absorption layer is made of Asphalt with a penetration of 80/100, or penetration of 60/70 which is melted with kerosene. The volume used ranges from 0.4 to 1.3 liter / m2.
The function of Asphalt Prime Coat is to provide bonding power between the aggregate base layer and Hotmix Asphalt. In addition, it also serves to prevent the loss of the granules of the aggregate foundation layer when the vehicle passes before being coated with Hotmix Asphalt.
Then Prime Coat also functions to protect the aggregate foundation layer from the effects of weather, especially when it rains so that water does not enter the aggregate foundation layer so that it can cause damage to the structure the way.
